Nicole is also a Fellow of the American Society for Quality (ASQ), Certified by ASQ as a Manager of Quality and Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE), and an ASQ Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB). She served as a national Examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (MBNQA) in 2009 and 2010, and has a PhD in Technology Management and Quality Systems from Indiana State University. She also has an MBA and a BS degree in Meteorology from Penn State. Nicole was recognized by Quality Progress in 2011 as one of the 40 New Voices of Quality, and serves as one of ASQ’s Influential Voices bloggers.

This book is great! Appendix F is my favorite. It shows which statistical tests in your toolbox you should use based on the type of data and the comparison you are performing in your work. You will use the right test in your work, but perhaps more fun, you will be prepared to call out the bogus paper which uses a t-test on non-normal data. Nice use of graphics to understand the math (and even Wolfram Alpha in a few places!).

Not The Easier Way... the EASIEST Way!!!

WOW! This book has really helped me understand R, in an easier way. I love how the book is structured like a conversation. The text anticipates what I struggle with and has the answer to what I am thinking in the next line. I also really appreciate how it explains the “behind the scenes” of R and helps you understand the formulas that are being calculated. For beginners and experts alike, I highly recommend this book to get you on track to learning the powers of R.

This book is excellent. It does what so many texts on statistics or R fail to do: provide an welcoming path for learning the subject. It's written with down-to-earth language, humor, and an excellent notion of how to engage her audience. Nicole guides you through various topics in practical statistical methods and how to program in R so that it's actually enjoyable instead of making it a fairly painful process like so many others do. Highly recommended.

Although described as a handbook, this work is more an encyclopedic description of 53 industrial process technologies for producing 18 different petrochemicals. Each process is described in a separate chapter by a different author or authors from one of 18 different companies from North America, Europe, or Japan. The descriptions are mostly brief (averaging 13 pages) and include the following information: general process description, process chemistry, process perspective, process description, product specifications, wastes and emissions, and process economics. The amount of detail varies, but the most common elements are the chemistry and flow diagram of each process, with other details being mostly of a qualitative or descriptive nature. The reader should be aware that there are many other large companies that have patented processes for a number of the chemicals included (notably absent is ICI, one of the largest, so the compilation should be considered representative rather than extensive. This excellent introduction and summary of typical plant operations is recommended as a valuable reference for any technical library that includes industrial chemistry and/or chemical engineering. Interesting, but lacking depth

This book promises a wealth of information for the process engineer interested in Petrochemical Processes. While it does contain a certain amount of useful information, useful for example as introductions to undergraduate Chemical Engineering courses on various of the topics covered, the information presented is not particulary in-depth. Some of the latter chapters on polymerization processes read a bit like the technical information you can find on company web sites rather that as chapters... OK, but not great.

"The majority of the recipes in this book were previously published in COOKING WITH CHOCOLATE: ESSENTIAL RECIPES AND TECHNIQUE" which was published in 2011.

There was no indication of this on the page and I bought this book not knowing the contents are pretty much the exact same. This book is much smaller in size with less recipes. If you are thinking of buying this I would strongly suggest you get the 2011 one instead. The design and layout of COOKING WITH CHOCOLATE is much more pleasing to look through and also when comparing the same recipes I find that CWC offers some useful notes that are omitted in CMC.

Great book for experienced bakers and chocolate makers!

A very nice recipe book for the home baker and chocolate maker. I feel that the user must have a working knowledge of baking and chocolate world. Not really for beginners. Don't listen to the other reviews that say this book is not helpful...because if you are a student of Russian, it definitely is! As a matter of fact, any serious student of Russian already owns this book because Russian verbs are so complicated, this book is a necessity to look up all of their conjugations. Without this reference you would just be guessing what the verbs forms are because there is no consistent pattern or trick to Russian verbs. That's why they wrote this book because you just need to look them up and memorize them. This is not something that you only need at the beginning, but it is useful even for more advanced speakers of Russian as well.

Learn your Conjugations!!

If you are serious about studying a foreign language, the most important thing you can do is learn to conjugate verbs correctly. Russian is no exception to this rule. This book is an excellent tool for anyone who has trouble with conjugation. Each verb is fully conjugated with perfective and imperfective forms, as well as past and future tenses. More than any other reference book this one will help you to drastically improve your speaking abilities.

About the Author
Simone de Beauvoir (1908–1986) was a French existentialist philosopher, intellectual, and social theorist best known for her writings on existentialist ethics and feminist existentialism, as well as for her infamous polyamorous relationship with fellow French existentialist Jean-Paul Sartre. World-renowned for her metaphysical novels She Came to Stay and The Mandarins, de Beauvoir also wrote a number of essays on philosophy, politics, and social issues. Her diverse writings go on to include biographies, as well as her four-volume autobiography, made up of Memoirs of a Dutiful Daughter, The Prime of Life, Force of Circumstance, and All Said and Done. Great Teaching Text for Existentialism

This is an excellent and original work of philosophy, closely related to the contemporary ideas of Sartre and Merleau-Ponty, but quite unique and not reducible to their work. I find it to be one of the best books (indeed one of the few books) to use to teach existentialism in introductory classes. I recommend skipping the first chapter, because it is self-consciously "literary," (in an obscure way), and contributes nothing essential to the book. Chapter 2 is the core of the book, and it is an incredible and compelling piece of writing that brilliantly discusses the distinctive nature of childhood experience, and then develops a dialectic of "bad faith" that offers a sort of system for understanding personality types--ways, that is, of embracing (imperfectly) our freedom. The third chapter studies politics in a very thoughtful way, (though I find it is often lost on my intro students because they just don't have enough experience of political realities to appreciate the significance of what she is saying). This text is often wrongly belittled by commentators (and, indeed, de Beauvoir herself wrongly said disparaging things about it), but I think it is one of the classic texts of existential phenomenology and deserves to be widely read.

the Realm of Existentialism

"There is no more obnoxious way to punish a man than to force him to perform acts which make no sense to him, as when one empties and fills the same ditch indefinitely, when one makes soldiers who are being punished march up and down, when one forces a schoolboy to copy lines."

What will the modern man do when slapped in the face with the absurdity of his own existence? Become an adventurer, passionate, serious, intellectual? Where will his values come from when there are no values -- how will he create them out of nothing? Is it easier to adopt a game full of illusions created by someone else? de Beauvoir forces the reader to come face to face with the absolute absurdity of the human condition, and then, proceeds to develop a dialectic of ambiguity that will enable the reader not to master the chaos, but to create with it. This book will probably alter many well-rooted philosophical perceptions -- so, reader beware! I could have done without the dramatic image of how the Nazi's conditioned themselves to become insensitive to human suffering (de Beauvoir used as an extreme example), but oh well... This book is a keeper, and very quotable! Highly recommended, especially for those diving into the Realm of Existentialism! --Katharena Eiermann, 2006

It is definitely a good time to review what she had to say

Ms. de Beauvoir certainly writes with more clarity than her friend, Sartre. But it took me several readings of the first page to understand just what the ambiguity was that she was writing about! However, after that, I found her essays compelling and relevant to our current troubles. It is definitely a good time to review what she had to say. She still speaks to us!
